Though we are eager to gather again, our community rooms are currently closed and our day trips are on hold. We are hopeful to resume in-person events by the end of 2021, but we continue to keep the health and safety of our members at the forefront when making these decisions. Once we start to host in-person events, we will consider planning day trips.
We are excited to once again interact with our members through virtual events! To participate, you need a computer, smartphone, or tablet, an active email address, and the willingness to learn and try new things. You can interact as much as you like, whether you want to be on video, talk without video, or merely listen and watch.
The topic, presenter, and number of attendees will determine if the event is a lecture-type presentation, where attendees are only able view and listen to the presenter, or an interactive-type event, meaning attendees can use their video camera and microphone if they wish.
Most of the Friends Club events will be offered via Webex, a secure online videoconferencing platform. Some events will be hosted by an outside presenter using Zoom. The instructions below will help you get started, but it may be a good idea to identify a friend or family member that can answer questions and address any concerns with your specific computer settings. We appreciate your patience during the first few events.
You can watch recorded events on-demand here:
Navigating Fraud and Scams: (Event held on February 10th)
Navigating Finances in Retirement: (Event held on March 4th)
For descriptions on the below events, please see our most recent newsletter. To register, please call 319-679-2103 or email FriendsClub@HillsBank.com. Since these events are exclusive for members, we will confirm your membership status and send you a confirmation email with instructions on how to join the virtual event.
