Fraudulent E-mail Claims to be from the FDIC
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) has announced that a fraudulent e-mail is being sent that appears to be from the FDIC.
The subject line of the e-mail states: “check your Bank Deposit Insurance Coverage.” The e-mail asks recipients to “visit the official FDIC website and perform the following steps to check your Deposit Insurance Coverage” (a fraudulent link is provided). It then instructs recipients to “download and open your personal FDIC Insurance File to check your Deposit Insurance Coverage.” DO NOT CLICK ON THIS LINK.
This e-mail and associated Web site are fraudulent. The FDIC does not issue unsolicited e-mails to consumers. Financial institutions and consumers should NOT follow the link in the fraudulent e-mail. Visit www.fdic.gov for more information about this e-mail scam.

Youth Salute Leadership Awards
Area high school seniors were recognized with Youth Salute leadership awards, sponsored by Hills Bank and Trust Company, Sunday, September 13th at the Englert Theatre, Iowa City. Over 190 students from 16 area high schools were honored for their academic achievement and leadership contributions. Students were selected by their high school faculty to receive the prestigious award.

New FDIC Deposit Insurance Limits
Deposits at FDIC-insured institutions are now insured up to at least $250,000 per depositor through December 31, 2013. On January 1, 2014, the standard insurance amount will return to $100,000 per depositor for all account categories except for IRAs and other certain retirement accounts which will remain at $250,000 per depositor.
Hills Bank and Trust Company is participating in the FDIC's Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Under that program, through December 31, 2009, all non-interest bearing transaction accounts are fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire amount in the account. Coverage under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program is in addition to and separate from the coverage available under the FDIC's general deposit insurance rules. New Cedar Rapids Location
On January 21st, Hills Bank opened our 14th location at 3905 Blairs Ferry Rd NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402. Currently, we are open with a temporary building, and construction of the permanent building will begin this spring. Lobby hours are Monday – Thursday from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Friday from 8:30 am – 6:00 pm, and Saturday from 8:30 – noon. Drive-up hours are Monday – Friday from 8:30 am – 6:00 pm and Saturday from 8:30 am – noon.
Stop by for a visit, take care of your banking, and have a cup of coffee, or do your banking from the warmth of your car with the convenient drive-up lane.
Coral Ridge Mall ATMs
Hills Bank and Trust Company is excited to announce that we are the new ATM provider for Coral Ridge Mall.
There are now four cash only ATMs in the Mall. One ATM is located at the west end near Barnes & Noble, one is in the center of the mall near GAP, and two ATMs are located near Panera in the food court. These ATMs are not part of the Privileged Status Network but are free for Hills Bank customers to use.
