Donor Advised Charitable Fund

The East Central Iowa Charitable Trust

Many people have a desire to make sizable charitable donations but are reluctant to do so. Perhaps potential donors are uncertain as to just which charities they would like to benefit when they wish to make a gift. Or, maybe a prospective donor is in a position to benefit from a large charitable deduction but is reluctant to do so because of a desire to avoid setting unsustainable expectations about future giving.

The East Central Iowa Charitable Trust was organized by Hills Bank and Trust Company to help increase investment in non-profit organizations qualifying for 501(c)(3) designation. The Charitable Trust provides a simple and convenient way to make charitable gifts. The Trust is a tool for donors who wish to make important gifts while simplifying the administrative tasks. If certain appreciated assets such as stocks are contributed, capital gains taxes can be eliminated.

An initial donation of $10,000 will open your gift fund within the Trust. Donations to the fund may be in the form of cash, securities, or transfers from an existing foundation or similar charitable trust. Gifts to the East Central Iowa Charitable Trust are irrevocable. Donors may advise the trustee regarding distributions to the charitable beneficiaries of their gifts.
